Yasmin Dickinson

Biography: Yasmin is a Cardiovascular Medicine PhD student at the William Harvey Research Institute in London. Yasmin is working closely with AstraZeneca, focusing on the role of CNP (C-type natriuretic peptide) in signalling mechanisms involved with cardiac hypertrophy and heart failure. She has a bachelor’s in Biomedical Science and a master’s in Molecular Biology. Before starting her PhD she worked as a research assistant at the University of Oxford, in the cardiovascular arena, exploring hypertension in pregnancy and dealing directly with patient samples from women with preeclampsia. Yasmin started creating science communication content two years ago on Instagram as @the.cardiac.scientist to inform, educate and raise awareness on science-related topics. She also shares her PhD journey with the aim of encouraging the next generation to pursue STEM careers or studies.

Biography: Robin Craig is a professional science communicator and specialist in equity, diversity and inclusion. He is the Communications and Administration Officer for
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in Science and Health (EDIS), a coalition of organisations across the UK science and health research sector working together on EDI. EDIS is currently incubated within the Wellcome Trust as part of the wider EDI team.
Prior to his current role, Robin worked as a journalist covering health inequalities in England and has published in outlets including VICE, Huck Magazine, and Dazed. He is passionate about health equity and creating a fairer, more inclusive research ecosystem.

His work involves curating impactful events and fostering community partnerships to amplify the interests and voices of the next generation of pharmacologists.
